And with lyrical prose and rich characters, The Summer House is a beautifully poignant reminder that we are never too young to find a good place to stand nor too old to start over.”—Katherine Reay, bestselling author of The Printed Letter Bookshop and Dear Mr. KnightleyBook The Summer House Review :
I must be reading another book after looking at all the reviews!!! I have read all of Lauren K.Denton books and ordered The Summer House in advance. The Title doesn't even go with the story! I'm sorry, I did not like this book at all. I read it hoping it would get better. I wish she wrote more "story" than constant descriptions of everything in every other paragraph. Even the story didn't all go together. This could have been a very good book but so many loose ends, big gaps, and just boring. Sorry. I really like this author. I hope her next book is like the first three!! Just my opinion. I have read all of Laura Denton's books and have enjoyed each one equally as well. However, The Summer House captured my attention more than the others. I could picture this village, the old timers and their personalities, as well as each character's present having been shaped by their past. Hurts, slights, mistakes, and yet no amount of years can stop God from leading any of us to repentance and forgiveness and freedom. Life, young or old, is lived in such places today just as it was in Safe Harbor. Well written.
